Queen Tiye the great royal wife of the pharaoh Amenhotep the 3rd and the mother of Akhenaten 1400-1440 BCE.






In her temple in the Nubian town of Sedeinga in northern Sudan, she was worshipped as a form of the goddess Hathor. The Amarna letters show how highly political influence she wielded at court. Being wise, intelligent, and strong, she played an active role in foreign relations and was the 1st queen to have her name recorded on official acts.
On the colossal statue of 7 m high, she is of equal height with her husband. She was originally buried in the royal tomb at Amarna alongside her son Akhenaten. following the move of the capital back to Thebes. Queen Tiye, along with others were transferred to the valley of the kings, she was about 50 years old at the time of her death, 145 cm tall.
