How the Ancient Egyptians leveled the foundation of the pyramids and kept it precisely flat & Why the entrance to the pyramids faced the North?

One of the theories tells that , they needed to build a trough out of mud brick and fill it with water, Marking the water levels on the walls of the tough enabled them to obtain a precisely horizontal line. Thus they used the trough as a spirit level.
