The impressive tombs of the workers in the city of Luxor, Egypt

That village was the home of the most skilled  artisans, artists , sculptors and craftsmen who built and ornamented the royal tombs in the valley of the kings and the valley of the queens of the new kingdom 1550 – 1070 BC . more than 70 houses and many tombs have been uncovered .we can still see the remains of those houses such as the side walls and the remains of ancient irrigation pipes. Those skilled workers were divided into two squads and each team used to work for 8 hours a day , supervised by a headman .
After smoothing the walls , they would add a layer of mixture of sand , clay and straw and then another layer of plaster mixed with water .Then ,  the artists would begin their work drawing on the walls the outlines of the figures using red ochre and they would make the correction needed using black ochre . After the drawing is done , the sculptors would carve the scenes into raised or sunk relief. Afterwards ,  it would be the turn of the painters to color those reliefs. It is amazing to see and worth your time.
